In this lesson, we explore the movements of the hips and how they inform teaching.

Objective

Become proficient in using accurate terminology related to hip movements and how to apply knowledge of the movements to inform teaching.

Description

Name the six directions of hip movement. Give a pose example for each. Highlight the need for strengthening as well as stretching in relation to the hip muscles. Describe some teaching considerations related to hip alignment in the three planes of movement.
