Be familiar with considerations and techniques for choosing silence and selecting music to accompany teaching.

Description

Discuss parts of class that you might choose to have the music off. Note a a signal that the volume is too loud. When you need to end a song before it has finished, describe a non-disruptive way to do so. Explore some potential negatives to avoid when using music. Provide three questions that can help to guide you in creating a playlist. Describe the framework for sequencing songs. Note a reason for avoiding music that has lyrics in the student’s primary language, and note considerations around use and placement of popular songs. Explain an action to take before using a song with lyrics in your playlist.
