Be knowledgeable about clinical results and research on the effectiveness of various therapies for healing trauma, including the effectiveness of yoga and Somatic Experiencing.

Description

Give examples of therapies that are usually not successful in healing trauma. Speak to the topic of acknowledging the difference between “what happened to you” and “what’s right with you” and a related concept of being broken vs. being Absolute and Unbreakable. Define “somatic” and “Somatic Experiencing.” Bessel van der kolk and Peter Levine are foremost experts on successful therapy treatment. What does van der kolk explain is the most important part of trauma treatment. Discuss safety in the context of healing. Describe three specific ways that yoga helps to heal trauma. Explain how traumatic memories are experienced differently after healing has occurred. Cite multiple research studies that demonstrate yoga’s impact on trauma.
