In this lesson, we introduce anatomical terminology related to the shoulders.

Objective

Become familiar with the foundational anatomy of the shoulder girdle, including the names and functions of the rotator cuff muscles.

Description

Provide multiple names for the shoulder girdle and explain what makes up this area of the body, including the specific bones and joints. Name the muscles that are primarily responsible for connecting the shoulder girdle to the rib cage and spine. Explain the function of the rotator cuff as a whole. List the muscles that make up the rotator cuff, where they are located and the role of each. Describe a stretch for each of the rotator cuff muscles.
